Myths of Highway
Expansion.
Minister Falcon has put forth many arguments to justify his plan to spend
$1 billion to widen Highway 1 and twin the Port Mann Bridge. We believe
that many of these arguments are misleading to the public. Let’s
consider some of the myths:
MYTH 1:
There have been no transportation investments in the lower mainland in
20 years.

Highway expansion is a necessary part of a balanced transportation strategy

Highway expansion will reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

Opponents of freeway are only based in Vancouver. Everyone else in the
lower mainland wants to see the freeway expanded.
